A Bold Conviction

Updated: Nov 9, 2021

What do you do when you feel like suffering won’t stop?

What do you do when it feels like your pain does not have a point?

What does it do when it feels like your weakness continues to worsen?

People ask you, “how are you?”, and you are simply saying, “I’m fine”. But in that moment, you are not fine. All you say is, “I’m fine” because you don’t want to express the real emotions which will lead to empathy and people giving you just two minutes of their time to hear you out.

We are human; We are people

We struggle and we suffer, and we cry. And if you think that true strength means not showing any weakness, trust me, you are wrong. Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to have an undeniable breakthrough. Now hear me out, true strength is making the decision to take a step back, show vulnerability, experience the emotions, and realise the strength you have within yourself that needs re-igniting.

True strength is about making that decision, a choice, a bold conviction that my current situation truly will not define who I am and what I ought to become. It’s about holding onto hope when you know that the conviction comes from a gut purpose. It’s about holding on to hope when you make that decision to stop looking outside for a sign or miracle; but zooming in and simply appreciating yourself just a little more for who you are, what you love and what you deeply cherish.

Hope is that decisive mindset entrenched in every single moment. It’s the lasers that cut through the fog and mist. Hope is choice over fear. A declaration to believe my life does not end here, but is just about to begin.

Living in hope is a moment to realise that a time is coming where we don’t know the day or the hour yet. All we know is that we must stand before ourselves and give an account for how we handled the assignment of returning to normality that was entrusted in us. On that day, it will be a time to make the choice to remind yourself that your past does not have a hold on you; and where hope is the ability to decide that I’m about to empower myself.

Be empowered, be resilient; all this will come to pass.
